New Orleans

The Morris clan hit NOLA, we explored the city and then the Bayou. New Orleans had some great architecture and even better food. The Cypress swamp was also pretty incredible,  the expanse of that swamp is something to behold.

Bald Eagles

This morning at Spot Pond 5 Bald Eagles performed some aerial combat displays. There were 4 sub adults and 1 mature Eagle. The Mature bird chased a number of the sub-adults around the pond before disappearing. The mature bird was also banded but it is to difficult to read the band.

Red-tailed Hawk Juvinile & Bluebirds

Young Red-tailed Hawk sitting in the refuge. This goofy fellow doesn't seem to have a care in the world, well at least not a human one. I think breakfast was a bit more important. Also a number of Eastern Bluebirds in the Ash street swamp, only birds I could find while out looking for Northern Shrike.

Short-eared Owl & the Moon

I made a return trip to try to see Short-eared Owls with Casey tonight. We were immediately treated to the owl flying about the north field. The moon was also pretty impressive. Not the best picture since the owl was very far way, that said this lens is amazing at how far it can capture a usable image.
