Barred Owl

I came across this beautiful Barred Owl roosting in the woods at Camp Nihan today. I watched it, and it watched me and all was right with the world. I left the owl sleeping where I found it. I hope to see this bird alot more during the time I am stationed at Camp Nihan.

Merlin & Screech Owl

Found a Merlin this morning stalking some sparrows. The small fierce Falcon is the tiny terror of the north.

Black-bellied Plover

Mixed flock of Black-bellied Plovers and Dunlin at Sandy Point this morning a crisp 32 degrees at dawn. These guys should be in South America right about now, time to get moving guys!

River Otter & New camera

Using my old camera I got this picture of a river Otter at Camp Nihan DCR .

Just got a new camera, pretty excited to push the various things that I find to the next level picture quality wise. Its a pro set up so it is going to take a while to get a handle on things, but here the first image I was able to capture, pretty happy with it. Red-breasted Nuthatch.
