Eastern Coyote & Red Fox

It seems I see Coyotes every day now, hunting openly during the day. This winter seems to have hit them particularly hard, completely augmenting their behaviors. I also ran into a Red Fox sleeping the snow, alert but tired. Not the best pictures, I didn't try to get close to either animal, any unnecessary energy expenditure on the animals part could be fatal right now.

Winter Birds

The Parker River Reserve  remains mainly inaccessible, but it does make for an impressive snowscape.

The heavy snows have been tough on my birding, and I suppose also on the birds. I have seen the typical spread of Tree Sparrows and White-throated Sparrows around, but not much else in the way of passerines. Today after a lot of searching various fruit trees for two days I finally located a few small flocks of Waxwings, regrettably not Bohemian's.

                                                                     Cedar Waxwing
Red phase Eastern Screech Owl along the road, and the next day a Gray phase in the same hole.

                                                        The two photos combined.

Common Redpolls

A small flock of Redpolls near the Hellcat area has turned into over 200 birds in under a week. The Redpoll's are feeding on Birch Tree seeds. Fun to watch these winter birds swarm, a nice break from people chasing owls all over the dunes.

On that not I must add, I am excited for the Snowy Owls to leave, people simply can not handle being responsible around these birds, and with no agency to enforce peoples behavior with the wildlife they are simply running ramped up here on Plum.

Purple Snadpipers along rt 1A in NH, Casey and I went looking for a Gyrfalcon but found these little guys.

Sleeping,  no need to chase see ?

Barred Owl & Others

I got some more pictures of the local Barred Owl, sometimes its just to easy not to take a picture of this bird. I also took a great walk on Crane Beach, I love this place, lots of memories since it was my beach growing up.
