Shorebird Banding Plymouth Beach
I went banding today with Drew from Mass Wildlife and some of the Manomet gang at Plymouth Beach. Their goal was to finish putting Nano tags on Semipalmated Sandpipers, they managed to tag 30 birds over 2 nights. The hope is that the tags will transmit the data tracking the movements of the birds for the duration that the tags stay attached, roughly a month or so. We also banded a number of Least Sandpipers and Semipalmated Plovers. Great time, very happy to be invited.

Since the birds can see the mist nets during the day, banding had to take place after dark
