Y.R. Warblers, 8 Snowy Owls & 2 Northern Shrikes

So the highlight of the day was 3 Yellow-rumped Warblers at the Salisbury State Reservation, very late to be hanging around in the frosty north. Also seen were 8 Snowy Owls and 2 Northern Shrikes. All and all not a bad day !

                                     

Yard Snowy's

Today two Snowy Owls flew over the yard while we were enjoying the glorious weather, thus adding Snowy Owl to my yard list. The birds were calling to each other or at each other as the flew. One landed on the roof next door, then flew to the tall pine just up the street. A neat afternoon for us 10th street folk.                          

Barred Owl

With so many Snowy Owls around this Barred Owl was a fun treat on the way to the Newbury dump. There are literally so many Snowy's on Plum Island this year its equivalent to seeing Red Tailed Hawks in other areas.

The increased snow fall probably pushed this guy close to the road during the day in hopes of an easy meal.
